The Look Up Gallery

The Look Up Gallery is a space that highlights large scale, abstract and impressionistic local artists. The gallery is located inside of a clothing boutique, Yobel, in downtown Colorado Springs and is owned by a husband-and-wife duo. The art of the Look Up Gallery is fixed to angled hanging walls that are above the clothing racks, inspiring its name.

The objective of this project is to design a new logo for the gallery, an outdoor A Frame sign, a postcard/exhibition card, and a new business card.

Sit With Brit

Sit With Brit is a small business located in Denver, Colorado. Its owner and operator, Britnee Arrington, provides private dog training services at her client’s home or in public spaces, such as nearby parks.

The objective of the project is to create a new brand identity package for Sit With Brit. This will include a new logo design, a new business card, and a new tri-fold services brochure.

Haight Bottling Company

Haight Bottling Company is a 20 year old national sparkling water business located in San Francisco, CA. The company started with unflavored sparkling mineral water but has since grown to include two additional flavors; lemon and lime. The brand projects a sense of indulgence while still being accessible to the everyday person.

There were three goals in mind. The first goal was to develop a logo for the beverage company that reflected a premium sparkling water. The second goal was to create cohesive yet differentiating labels for the three flavors of sparkling water. And the last goal was to create an identity package for the brand.

Goodwill Industries

Goodwill of Colorado is a non-profit organization that primarily provides second-hand goods, based on community donations, through its thrift stores across Colorado as well as other states in the country. Goodwill also offers other services such as job training, support, and placement; IT career training and placement; low-income energy assistance; youth education and career development; staffing services; in home care and support services; community transportation; commercial laundry services; custodial services; as well as various services for those in the agricultural sector.

There are several objectives to the project. First, to create a four page newsletter which highlights brand awareness. The second objective is to create two horizontal billboard advertisements and two vertical bus stop advertisements that showcase two components of Goodwill. The first element that it will showcase is that Goodwill has many job training and support opportunities for the public. The second set of advertisements will showcase that Goodwill is a destination location for secondhand apparel.

STIR Coffee & Cocktails

STIR Coffee and Cocktails is a locally owned coffee and cocktail bar in Colorado Springs, CO. This space is a safe, comfortable environment for the Old North End neighborhood to have a drink or nosh.

There were several goals with this project. First, was to create a warmer, inviting, and contemporary brand identity. The second goal was to create a general business card using the new rebrand for the company. The next goal was to create a takeout menu using the new brand identity.

Häagen-Dazs

Häagen-Dazs is a Nestle USA owned company that specializes in premium ice cream, sorbet, gelato, and other frozen treats. The company was founded in the 1960s in Bronx, NY while its history goes back as far as the late 1920s. Since then, the company has reach international success, finding itself stocked in super markets across the world.

The objective of this project is to create three pint-sized designs for three seasonal flavors for the frozen treat company. The flavors will be complimentary to the summer season. The three flavors will be lime mojito, piña colada, and watermelon lemonade. In addition to the pint designs, I will also create six appropriate Instagram posts, two for each flavor.

Infinity Renewable Energy

Infinity Renewable Energy (IRE) is an American, state of the art, multinational conglomerate that produces renewable energy throughout the United States and several other countries. Its headquarters is located in Maryland, US.

In addition, IRE researches renewable energy and develops many products. Such products as wind turbines, solar cells, hydroelectric dams, hydrogen-based solutions, as well as well as other technologies that are designed to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources.

The objective of this project is to create a new logo set (symbol, lettermark, wordmark, and cominbation logo), LED lightbulb packaging, web design*, merchandising identity, transportation identity, and a visual identity system*.

National Park Service

Since 1916, the National Park Service has been entrusted with the care of our national parks. With the help of volunteers and partners, we safeguard these special places and share their stories with more than 318 million visitors every year. But our work doesn't stop there.

We are proud that tribes, local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individual citizens ask for our help in revitalizing their communities, preserving local history, celebrating local heritage, and creating close-to-home opportunities for kids and families to get outside, be active, and have fun.

There is one objective for the project. This is to create four illustrative 11x17 posters to highlight the four national parks in Colorado; Rocky Mountain National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Elements and Principles of Design

In the world of design there are elements and principles that define how design functions and how one creates good design. A designer must follow these principles and elements to create an effective and attractive composition. Graphic design adheres to these rules to make work stable and balanced. Unlike art, design resolves problems and is not up for interpretation and this requires direction and purpose. The seven elements are line, shape, form, color, value, texture, and space. The seven principles are balance, scale/proportion, contrast, pattern, movement, emphasis, and unity.

The objective of the project is to design a clear and legible infographic that will display and give minor details to the seven elements and seven principles of design.
